Our Week: November 9 - 13

It is United Way Week.  Here is the list of what to wear and send each day if you can:
Monday - Pennies and Pajamas
Tuesday - Nickels and Royals Shirts
Wednesday - Dimes and Hats
Thursday - Quarters and Sweats
Friday - Dollar Bill and Spirit Wear (Gracemor, College, etc.)

SIGHT WORDS:
Many of us are struggling to remember our sight words.  In order for us to keep these words in our long term memory we need a lot of practice with them.  Please review the previous books, use the sight word cards, and practice them nightly on your homework sheets.

let, us, run

Run Sight Word Song

Our book for this week is Let Us Run.

READING:

This week we are using what we know about characters, setting, and events to dig deeper into our stories.  We will use these things to help us understand our books better.  We will also look at what the characters are feeling to help us understand what is going on.

WRITING:

We are continuing our unit on opinions.  We are having a hard time grasping what an opinion is.  Continue to remind your child that an opinion is what we think or feel about something.  We are learning to state our opinion, tell why and then to restate it at the end of our story.

MATH:

We are going to continue working on our numbers and counting smaller amounts quickly and accurately using the Roll and Record game.
We are going to look at number order and the words greater than and less than by playing a Monster Squeeze game.
We will also work on our number writing with our white boards doing something similar to this.

ANIMATED LITERACY:

Monday - Draw a bee and write a simple sentence such as "Let us run away from the bee."

Tuesday - Letter W; Winkie Walrus

Wednesday - Draw a well and write a simple sentence such as "I can run to the well."
Thursday - Long I; Ike's Bike Ride
