One Sight Word Song

Day Sight Word Song

Green Sight Word Song

Our book for this week is One Day.

READING:

This week we are looking at the author's purpose for writing a story.  We will also compare and contrast experiences between different characters.  This helps us think more about what is going on in our story and to help us think about how that relates to other things we have read.

WRITING:

We are finishing up our unit on opinions.  We will be reviewing what we have learned all week.  When writing an opinion we need to tell our opinion, tell why, and then retell our opinion.

MATH:

We are going to work on sorting things based on different attributes such as size, shape, color, thickness, etc.
We will work to identify some of these attributes by touch.
We are also going to work on graphing our favorite colors and discussing our findings.
We also get to explore calculators this week.
We will also review counting and number writing during our math workshop time.

Run Sight Word Song

Our book for this week is Let Us Run.

This week we are using what we know about characters, setting, and events to dig deeper into our stories.  We will use these things to help us understand our books better.  We will also look at what the characters are feeling to help us understand what is going on.

We are continuing our unit on opinions.  We are having a hard time grasping what an opinion is.  Continue to remind your child that an opinion is what we think or feel about something.  We are learning to state our opinion, tell why and then to restate it at the end of our story.

MATH:

We are going to continue working on our numbers and counting smaller amounts quickly and accurately using the Roll and Record game.
