SIGHT WORDS:
Our sight words this week are: do, not, the.
Heidi Songs - do
Heidi Songs - not
Our sight word book this week is called I Do Not Like. Practice reading the book below. Name a sight word (do, not, the, I , like) and have them point to it in the book. Remember the books will come home on Friday!
READING:
We are building our stamina for independent reading. We have learned that there are 3 ways to read: read the pictures, read the words we know, and retell a story we have heard before. We are going to talk about how we read left to right, top to bottom, and one page at a time. We are also learning how to put our broken books into the book hospital for Mrs. Irwin to do surgery on later. Remember to try to read every night!
WRITING:
This week we are really focusing on how to talk with a writing partner. This includes asking questions about our partners writing and giving ideas of how to make it even better. We are also learning how to answer questions that others have about our writing. You can practice this at how by writing/drawing with your child and encouraging them to take turns sharing and providing feedback!
SCIENCE:
We are talking briefly about summer. We will discuss what the weather is like, what we wear, what activities we do, and what plants and animals are like during this season.
MATH:
We are working on recognizing numbers 0-5 and counting objects to match. A Home Link sheet came home today to help practice that counting! We will also work on describing and naming shapes.
ANIMATED LITERACY:
Tuesday: Dad
Draw dad and write a sentence about it. Don't worry about correct spelling. If your child doesn't know a lot of the letter sounds, skip the sentence and work on some letter sound flashcards instead!
Wednesday: Letter T - Timmy Tiger and Terrible Tommy T-Rex
Practice the song and finish the worksheet if it didn't get completed at school. Add the T and t flashcards to the set to practice.
Thursday: top
Draw top and write a sentence about it. Don't worry about correct spelling. If your child doesn't know a lot of the letter sounds, skip the sentence and work on some letter sound flashcards instead!
Friday: Letter S -Sadie Seal

*Look for pages to be added soon at the top of the blog to show what letters and sight words we have already learned in case you need an up to date list! : )
I hope this helps bridge the gap between our class and your home. Please let me know if there is anything you would like added to make it more beneficial for you.
